Key Takeaways
The 2026 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale runs July 14 – August 9. Cardmember Early Access begins July 14 (Icons), July 15 (Ambassadors), and July 16 (Influencers); everyone shops starting July 18. Prices return to full on August 10.
This is not a clearance sale — it’s brand-new fall merchandise marked down before the season starts, which is why the best pieces sell out during Early Access.
The smartest buys for women over 50 are investment staples: premium denim, coats, cashmere, quality shoes, and the Beauty Exclusives sizes you can’t get any other time of year.
New for 2026: Nordstrom allows backorders on select items and lets you add sold-out pieces to your Wish List for restock alerts — so “sold out” is no longer the end of the story.
Why this sale is the one I plan my year around
Grit & Glammers, I’ve shopped a lot of sales in my decade of doing this, and most of them are exactly what you suspect: last season’s leftovers with a red sticker. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2026 is the opposite. Nordstrom puts brand-new fall arrivals on sale before fall begins — the coat you’ll wear in October, the cashmere you’ll live in come November — and when the sale ends August 9, those prices are gone.
That’s the whole game. This isn’t about buying more; it’s about buying the handful of pieces you already know your fall wardrobe needs, at the best price they will ever be.
Every date you need
- Now – July 12: The preview is live. Browse everything and load your Wish List by size and color — this is how you check out in two minutes instead of twenty when your window opens.
- July 14–17: Early Access for Nordstrom cardmembers — Icons shop the 14th, Ambassadors the 15th, Influencers (all cardholders) the 16th.
- July 18 – August 9: The sale opens to everyone.
- August 10: Prices go back up.
Do you need the Nordstrom card? Honestly: only if you shop Nordstrom regularly anyway. Early Access matters most for the pieces that sell out fast — especially popular sizes in denim and shoes. If you’re a once-a-year Nordstrom shopper, the public sale still has plenty to offer. I’d never suggest opening a credit card for a sale; I would suggest joining the Nordy Club for free shipping and rewards.
How to shop it smart (the over-50 version)
The sale is designed to make you feel like everything is a deal. Here’s how we keep our heads:
- Shop your closet first. Before you buy a thing, open your closet and name your actual gaps. A deal on something you don’t need is just spending.
- Buy the best version of your staples. This is the moment for the investment pieces — the coat, the cashmere, the denim that fits beautifully — not the trend that will feel dated by spring.
- Order your size and the next one. Returns are free, sale sizing is inconsistent across brands, and the piece you hesitate on will be gone tomorrow. Order, try, return.
- Use a Double Points Day if you’re a cardmember — save it for your biggest order of the sale.
What to buy at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (and what to skip)
Category by category, here’s my honest edit — what earns its place, and what I’d walk past. Every pick links directly, and the full shoppable version of this list lives on my NSale Shop My Hub and Nordstrom Storefront Hub (starting July 15th), updated daily. Nordstrom has even curated their very own must-have list!
Denim
The single best value in the sale, year after year. Premium denim rarely goes on sale anywhere, and the brands that fit real bodies — with rise and stretch where we want them — show up here at 30 to 40 percent off.

The Kick It High Waist Straight Leg Jeans I own these, and I’ll say it plainly: they are by far my favorite jeans. The high waist smooths, the straight leg works with every shoe I own, and the fit is the reason MOTHER earns its price tag. If you buy one pair of jeans in this entire sale, make it this one.
Cindy High Waist Ankle Straight Leg Jeans An ankle-length straight leg is quietly one of the most flattering cuts for us — it shows off your shoes, keeps the line long, and the high waist does exactly what you want it to. This is the pair for loafers now and booties later.
The Longline Straight Leg Jeans The full-length sister of the ankle cut — a longer inseam that elongates the leg beautifully, especially over a bootie or with a bit of heel. If you’re taller, or you simply love the drama of a long, unbroken line, this is your pair.
Le Sleek High Waist Ankle Straight Leg Jeans The most polished pair of the five. This denim reads almost like a trouser, which makes it the pair for the days you want to look pulled together without giving up the comfort of jeans.
Kelsey High Waist Kick Flare Jeans Kick flares are back in a big way for fall, and this is the friendliest version of the trend — the subtle flare balances the hip beautifully and was made for a block heel. If you’ve been all straight legs for years, this is your refresh.
Coats & Jackets
Buying your fall coat in July feels absurd right up until October, when you’re wearing the best coat you own and paid a third less for it. Look for the styles that work over everything — a great trench, a wool topper, a leather jacket that will outlive us all.

Kai Houndstooth Check Wool Blend Coat Every fall wardrobe needs one coat with personality, and houndstooth is mine this year — pattern and texture in a single piece, so all you need underneath is a simple sweater and jeans. This is the coat that gets compliments at the grocery store.
Oversized Coat with Detachable Scarf The built-in scarf is the detail that makes this one feel expensive — that tossed-over-the-shoulder polish, already attached. An oversized cut layers beautifully over blazers and chunky knits, so this is the coat for the coldest stretch of the season.
Short Colorblock Stretch Rain Jacket Every closet needs one great rain jacket, and most of them are dreary — this one is anything but. The stretch means you can actually move in it, the shorter length works with every pant, and the colorblock keeps a gray day from winning.
Glen Check Wool Blend Coat Glen check is about as American Classic as a pattern gets — polished, timeless, and neutral enough to function as a solid. This is the coat you wear to lunch, to church, to the theater, for the next ten years.
Plaid Wool Wrap Coat A wrap coat is the most forgiving silhouette in outerwear — it ties where you want it to and skims everywhere else. In plaid wool, it’s a blanket you’re allowed to wear in public, and I mean that as the highest compliment.
Sweaters & Knits
Sweaters are the workhorses of a fall wardrobe — the pieces you actually wear four days a week — and this is the category where the sale’s discounts do the most repeat duty.

Oversize Pullover Sweater The throw-on-and-go piece of the season. An oversized pullover looks intentional over slim and straight-leg denim — the proportion play does the styling for you. This is the sweater for school pickup, coffee runs, and Saturday errands.
Mavie Intarsia Floral Cardigan A cardigan with a point of view. The intarsia floral makes it the interesting piece in an otherwise simple outfit — white tee, jeans, done. When someone asks “where did you get that?” this fall, it will be about this cardigan.
Crewneck Cashmere Sweater The perennial sellout of the entire sale, and for good reason — quality cashmere at this price simply doesn’t exist any other time of year. Buy it in a neutral you’ll wear on repeat, and if a second color is calling your name, listen. These do not restock.
Long Sleeve Check Polo Sweater The collared sweater is the most quietly chic silhouette going right now — it dresses up denim the way a crewneck can’t. In a check, this one does double duty as both pattern piece and polish piece.
Chloe Argyle Zip Cardigan Argyle is having a genuine moment, and the zip front makes this one modern instead of nostalgic. Wear it zipped as a sweater or open as a layer — two pieces in one is exactly the math we like at sale prices.
Shoes & Boots
Fair warning: shoe selection varies by year. When it’s good, it’s very good — walkable boots, quality flats, the sneakers that go with everything. Buy for comfort first; we know better than to negotiate with our feet.
The Flats & Loafers
Comfortable shoes that still look polished are the holy grail after 50, and flats and loafers are where this sale quietly over-delivers. Every pair below works with the denim above — that’s not an accident.
SHOP MY COMPLETE NSALE FLATS & LOAFERS COLLECTION →
Lizbeth Moc Toe Loafer A moc toe loafer is the sneaker of dress shoes — polished enough for lunch out, comfortable enough for a full day on your feet. This is the pair that goes with every single jean in my denim edit.
Maddox Mesh Flat Mesh flats are the shoe of the year, and once you wear a pair you’ll understand why — they breathe, they flex, and they make an outfit look current without trying. This is the transitional shoe for warm September days.
Elly Pointed Toe Flat A pointed toe does for a flat what a heel does for a pump — it lengthens the leg and sharpens the whole outfit. This is the flat for the days that call for polish without the podiatry consequences.
The Woven Paz Flat Texture is what separates an interesting shoe from a basic one, and the woven detail here elevates everything from white jeans now to dark denim later. A quiet little luxury at a sale price.
Uptown Hybrid Penny Loafer The penny loafer is American Classic to its core, and the hybrid construction is the update our feet have been waiting for — traditional on top, sneaker-comfortable underneath. If you’ve always loved the look but not the stiffness, this is your pair.
The Boots & Booties
Boots are the buy-October-in-July purchase — the category where waiting until you actually need them means paying full price for the picked-over sizes. Booties sell out earliest in the entire sale, so if any category deserves the check-out-first treatment, it’s this one. My full edit is here:
SHOP MY COMPLETE NSALE BOOTS & BOOTIES COLLECTION →
Lilani Waterproof Block Heel Bootie Waterproof and polished used to be mutually exclusive — not anymore. A block heel gives you height you can actually walk in, and the weatherproofing means this is the bootie you grab without checking the forecast. The workhorse of the five.
Romeo Waterproof Bootie The flatter, sportier sister — this is the bootie for travel days, long errand runs, and every rainy morning between now and April. Comfort-first without looking like you gave up.
Define Block Heel Bootie The sleek one. A clean-lined block heel bootie is what makes ankle denim and midi skirts work in fall — it’s the finishing piece for the polished outfits, dinner out, and everything you want to feel a little more done for.
Hannah Waterproof Scrunch Knee High Boot The scrunch detail is what’s current about this boot — that relaxed, slouched line is everywhere for fall — and the waterproofing is what makes it practical. Wear it over slim jeans or under a midi dress and you’re dressed.
Marin Stretch Suede Knee High Boot Stretch suede is the answer for those of us whose calves have opinions about traditional knee highs — it fits closely on every leg. Suede is the texture of fall 2026, and this is the elegant way to wear it head to toe… well, knee to toe.
Beauty Exclusives
The quiet genius of this sale. The jumbo sizes and exclusive sets of the skincare and haircare you already use exist only during the Anniversary Sale — this is stock-up territory, not experiment territory.

8-Inch Sensor Rechargeable Tabletop Mirror Not glamorous, but I promise you: good lighting changes everything about doing your makeup after 50. The sensor light mimics natural daylight, so what you see at the mirror is what the world sees at lunch. The tool I recommend more often than any product — and it almost never goes on sale.
The Purify & Refine Ritual Gift Set Luxury skincare on sale is a rare event, and a ritual set is the smart way in — you get the full routine at a price that makes sense, whether you’re stocking up on a line you already love or finally trying it without the full-price commitment.
Instafacial® Plasma Bioactive Growth Factor Serum Duo One of the buzziest skincare launches of the past year, and growth factor serums are exactly the category worth investing in for mature skin. The duo is what makes the value work — this is my splurge-with-a-strategy pick.
X-Large Roma Heirloom Tomato Candle Yes, tomato — and yes, it’s wonderful. This is the candle of the moment: green, fresh, like a summer garden in a jar, and the x-large size burns well into the fall. Beauty for your rooms, not just your face.
Platinum LED Teeth Whitening Device The most underrated confidence purchase on this list. A brighter smile does more for your face than half the makeup bag, and an at-home LED device at a sale price beats a dental-office bill every time.
Handbags & Jewelry

The Handbags & Travel
A great bag is the piece that pulls every outfit together — and bags at Anniversary Sale prices are how you justify the one you’ve been eyeing since spring. My full edit is here:
Alba Shine Leather East/West Tote The east/west silhouette — wider than it is tall — is the tote shape of the season, and the shine leather elevates it from carryall to statement. This is the bag that goes from errands to lunch without a handoff.
Swing Suede Top Handle Bag Suede is the texture of fall 2026, and a top handle is its most ladylike expression. Carry it to dinner, to a shower, to anywhere you want to feel a little more done — this is the polish piece of the five.
Valerie Suede Shoulder Bag The everyday suede option — a shoulder bag that instantly updates last year’s sweater-and-jeans outfits to this year. If you add one texture to your accessories this fall, make it this.
Chatelet Air 2.0 Hardside 2-Piece Spinner Luggage Set (21″/28″) I own this set, and I can attest: it takes a licking and keeps on ticking — plus it’s genuinely gorgeous, which is not a word most luggage earns. The chic striped hardside turns up on the carousel looking like it belongs to someone interesting. Luggage this good on sale is a once-a-year event.
Grande Fanny Leather Belt Bag The hands-free bag, grown up — in leather, worn crossbody, it’s the answer for travel days, grandbaby duty, and every outing where you need both hands and still want to look put together. The “grande” size actually holds your real essentials.
The Jewelry
Lab Grown Diamond Signature Bangle
Lab grown is how you get real diamonds at a price that doesn’t require a family meeting — and a diamond bangle is the piece you put on and simply never take off. This is heirloom sparkle at Anniversary Sale math.
Deia Pebble Locket Necklace
Lockets are back, and I love what that says about us — jewelry with something inside it. The pebble shape keeps it modern, and it’s exactly the right piece for a grandmother with photographs worth carrying.
Tiger’s Eye Necklace
The warm neutral of jewelry — tiger’s eye picks up every brown, camel, and cream in a fall wardrobe. This is the necklace that makes a simple sweater look considered.
Tavira Cultured Pearl Beaded Necklace
Pearls are American Classic, full stop — but beaded pearls read fresh, not formal. Wear it with a blazer or a white tee alike; it earns its keep either way.
Pearl Aura Beaded Necklace
The layering partner. Wear it alone for quiet polish or stack it with the Tavira above — two strands of pearls together is a look that never needed reviving because it never left.
My Top Ten Picks of the Entire Sale
We’ve gone category by category on today’s post, but here are the ten pieces I’d grab first (they’re all on my wish list) — the ones where the value, the wearability, and the sell-out risk all point the same direction.
1. Padded Cable Stitch Wool & Cashmere Puffer Jacket
A puffer that’s also a cable knit, in wool and cashmere — warmth without the Michelin Man silhouette. This is the most elevated take on practical outerwear in the entire sale.
2. Lightweight Fleece Quarter Zip Pullover
The piece you’ll reach for more than anything else on this list — morning walks, travel days, reading on the porch. A quarter zip flatters because it frames the face and gives you a collar; this is athleisure that still looks like you.
3. Lightweight Fleece Joggers
The bottom half of the quarter zip above, and together they’re the loungewear set you can answer the door in. Joggers done right — tapered, polished, nothing sloppy about them — for coffee-on-the-porch mornings and long travel days. Buy the set; you’ll wear it weekly from now through March.
4. Leather Pants
Yes, leather pants — and yes, for us. Worn with a tunic sweater and flats, they’re no more daring than dark denim, and considerably more interesting. Leather at Anniversary Sale pricing is the moment to finally try them.
5. Chloe Argyle Zip Cardigan
Argyle is having a genuine moment, and the zip front makes this one modern instead of nostalgic. Wear it zipped as a sweater or open as a layer — two pieces in one is exactly the math we like at sale prices.
6. Beverly Skinny Flare Corduroy Pants
Corduroy is the texture story of fall pants, and the skinny flare is its most flattering cut — fitted through the leg, a kick at the hem made for a block heel or bootie. The pant that makes denim jealous.
7. Marlowe Ponte Knit Blazer
The genius of ponte: it looks like a tailored blazer and feels like a cardigan. This is the piece for travel, for long days, for every occasion where you want structure without stiffness. If your blazers stay in the closet because they’re “too much,” this one won’t.
8. Suede Midi Skirt
Suede is the texture of fall 2026, and the midi skirt is its most graceful expression — with knee-high boots now, with the flats above through September. One of those pieces that instantly makes an outfit look expensive.
9. Crop Suede Jacket
The cropped cut is what makes this current — it hits at the waist, which means it works over dresses and high-waisted denim alike. Paired with the suede skirt, it’s a whole moment; worn separately, two wardrobes’ worth of outfits.
10. Kira Travel Loafer
A loafer engineered for airports and cobblestones that doesn’t look like it was — flexible, packable, polished. The shoe for the NYC trips, the Atlanta weekends, and every itinerary in between.
The Ralph Lauren Edit
Anyone who has read this blog for more than a week knows Ralph Lauren is my favorite designer — and this year, he’s predominantly featured throughout the Anniversary Sale. That almost never happens at this scale. Ralph Lauren pieces are the definition of buy-once-wear-forever: the cable knits, the blazers, the crisp shirting that looks as right today as it did twenty years ago and will twenty years from now.
When a brand this timeless goes on sale this rarely, you shop it. I’ve pulled every Ralph Lauren piece worth your attention into one collection:

The restock game has changed
Here’s the best news of the 2026 sale: sold out isn’t final anymore. So if you miss something during Early Access — wishlist it, and check my Sale Hub, where I post restocks every morning through August 9.
Your questions, answered
For investment staples, genuinely yes — this is new fall merchandise at 30 to 40 percent off, not clearance. For trends and impulse buys, no sale is worth it.
Early Access begins July 14 for cardmembers by tier; everyone shops July 18 through August 9.
No — the sale opens to everyone July 18. The card only matters if you want first access to the pieces that sell out early.
