It was 11:56 on Tuesday night, and I was sitting in the glow of my laptop with my entire Nordstrom Anniversary Sale haul waiting in the cart — suede, cashmere, and one splurge — watching the clock for Early Access to open my tier like a teenager waiting for concert tickets to drop.

Some traditions bend. For the first time in years, my Anniversary Sale ritual won’t include the Atlanta pre-shopping dinner-and-shopping extravaganza I’ve come to love — this year, the sale is taking me to New York instead (more on that next week). But some traditions, it turns out, don’t bend at all. They just move to midnight. At 12:01 on the dot, I hit “place order,” took a screenshot of the confirmation like it was a trophy, and went to bed grinning.

So here it is — not a wish list, not a roundup, but the actual receipt. Every piece below went into my cart with my own card behind it, and I’ll tell you exactly why each one earned its spot.

Key Takeaways

  • I bought 15 pieces during Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Early Access — all fall classics at 30–40% off, every one linked below.
  • The heart of the haul: a brown suede skirt-and-jacket set, a Ralph Lauren wool-and-cashmere quilted jacket, and the under-$115 cashmere crewneck I recommend every year.
  • Public Access opens Saturday, July 18 — no Nordstrom card needed. Sale prices end in early August.
  • The strategy: buy fall now, at the lowest prices these pieces will see all year.

Browsing Is Easy. Buying Is a Vote.

Over the past few days, I’ve shared my complete Anniversary Sale guide for women over 50 — a wide-lens look at what caught my eye. This post is the narrow one. These are the pieces I committed to, and there’s a difference. A preview says “this is lovely.” A purchase says “this is coming home with me, and I’ve already planned three ways to wear it.”

And here’s something I love: some of what I bought, you were already buying. The first day of Early Access made one thing unmistakably clear — Grit & Glammers are shopping for fall in July, and we’re shopping smart. Coats, cardigans, suede, cashmere. The buy-now-wear-in-October strategy isn’t a trick; it’s the whole point of this sale.

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Haul: The Suede Set That Started It All

Nordstrom Suede Midi Skirt — Brown Drum, $199.99 (after sale: $299)

I’ll say it plainly: this skirt was the very first thing in my cart, and it’s already the runaway best-seller among readers — which tells me we’re all seeing the same thing. Real suede, a clean column silhouette, and that rich brown that anchors an entire fall wardrobe. With knee boots and a cream sweater, it’s October. With a white tee and flats right now, it’s a Georgia evening on the porch.

Nordstrom Crop Suede Jacket — Brown Drum, $248.99

And then I did the thing I always tell you to consider: I bought the matching piece. Together, the jacket and skirt make a suede suit — worn as a set, it’s an occasion outfit; split apart, they’re two workhorses. The jacket over jeans. The skirt with the cashmere below. One decision, four outfits. That’s the math I like.

The Piece I’ll Have in Twenty Years

Polo Ralph Lauren Padded Cable Stitch Wool & Cashmere Puffer Jacket — Collection Camel Melange, $399.99 (after sale: $598)

This was the splurge of the night, and I didn’t hesitate. Cable-knit quilting in wool and cashmere, in that camel that goes with absolutely everything I own. It’s the kind of piece that doesn’t belong to a season or a trend — it just belongs. Nearly $200 off, and I suspect it will be one of the first things in my closet to sell out, so consider this your friendly nudge.

The Cardigans (Yes, Plural — I Regret Nothing)

Veronica Beard Christina Cotton Cardigan — Acorn Multi, $299.99 (after sale: $448)

The lady jacket’s softer cousin. That tweedy acorn knit reads polished enough for lunch out but wears like a sweater. This is the piece I’ll reach for when I want to look pulled together in under five minutes — which, let’s be honest, is most days.

Veronica Beard Beverly Skinny Flare Corduroy Pants — Deep Ochre, $186.99 (after sale: $278)

And yes — I bought the cords Veronica Beard styled with that very cardigan, because sometimes the merchandisers get it exactly right and there’s no shame in saying so. That deep ochre is the color of October in Georgia, the skinny flare is universally kind, and together with the Christina, this is a complete outfit that walked into my cart as a pair. Buy the outfit formula when it works — that’s not cheating, that’s efficiency.

Rails Chloe Argyle Zip Cardigan — Grey Argyle, $198.99 (after sale: $278)

Another one you all found before I could even tell you about it — this cardigan was flying on day one of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Argyle is having a real moment, but this version is subtle about it: grey ground, wine-and-blue diamonds, a sporty zip. It’s collegiate without costume. I’ll wear it with white jeans now and with the leather pants below come November.

The Fall Foundation Pieces

Nordstrom Leather Pants — Black, $199.99 (after sale: $299)

Real leather pants under $200 is the quiet miracle of this year’s sale. Wide leg, clean waist, and they go with every single sweater in this haul. If leather pants have been on your someday list, this is the someday.

Nordstrom Crewneck Cashmere Sweater — Grey Silk Heather, $112.99 (after sale: $169)

Every year I say it, and every year it’s true: the Nordstrom cashmere crewneck (available in seven colors) is one of the best values in the entire sale. Buy it in your neutral of choice, thank yourself in October. Grey silk heather is mine this year because it softens everything it touches — the leather pants, the suede skirt, dark denim.

Nordstrom Textured Cropped Jacket — Black-Ivory Tweed, $118.99 (after sale: $179)

Under $120 for a tweed lady jacket with a modern silhouette is the sleeper deal of my haul. Cropped, boxy, that salt-and-pepper weave that works with black trousers for dinner or jeans for Saturday errands. If the Veronica Beard is the splurge version of this silhouette, this is the smart one — and honestly, I wanted both in my closet for different jobs.

Lauren Ralph Lauren Lambskin Leather Jacket — Tobacco, $339.99 (after sale: $510)

I went back and forth on this one. But lambskin at $170 off, in that tobacco brown that only gets better with wear, won the argument. A brown leather jacket instead of black is one of those small choices that make a classic wardrobe feel personal.

Polo Ralph Lauren Relaxed High Waist Jeans — Keene Wash, $149.99 (after sale: $228)

Every Anniversary Sale haul needs one great pair of jeans, and this year mine is a relaxed high waist in a medium wash that looks like you’ve owned it for years — in the best way. The easier leg is a welcome break from skinnies, and it works with nearly everything above: the argyle cardigan, the cashmere crewneck, the crop suede jacket. Denim at $78 off is exactly the kind of buy this sale exists for.

The Sunday Morning Purchase

Polo Ralph Lauren Lightweight Fleece Sweatpants — Dark Vintage Heather, $98.99 (after sale: $148)

Because style at a certain age includes Sunday mornings with coffee and grandbabies, and I refuse to look sloppy doing it. These are the elevated version of the sweatpants you already own — heavier fleece, a proper drape, that little embroidered pony. Weekend uniform: secured.

The Shoe of the Season

Veronica Beard Paley Loafer — Chestnut Suede $249.99 (after sale: $375)

Every haul needs one shoe, and this year mine is a loafer — the silhouette that carries an entire fall of suede skirts, corduroy, and denim without complaint. The Paley has that substantial, polished look that makes even jeans and a crewneck feel intentional. Loafers in popular sizes are historically among the first things to sell out in this sale, so if these speak to you, listen quickly.

For the Apartment: The Ones Everyone Beat Me To

Lola Blanket — Bondi Beige $$194.99 (after sale: $325)

Here’s a confession: you found this one before I did. The Lola Blanket has been one of the most-purchased items among readers since the moment Early Access opened — some of you are buying two and three at a time, which tells me the gifting season is already underway. So I did what any sensible woman does when her readers are clearly onto something: I ordered one for the Dunwoody apartment. Consider it research. Very soft, very cozy research.

Nordstrom Flat Lid Storage Baskets — Black $112.99 (after sale: $169)

The second apartment find — and another one plenty of you had already discovered. A weekend apartment teaches you quickly that beautiful storage isn’t a luxury; it’s the difference between a home that welcomes grandbabies and a home that’s bracing for them. These baskets are handsome enough to sit in the open and practical enough to swallow the toys, throws, and general evidence of a well-lived weekend. Pretty and useful is the whole assignment.

What I Skipped — and Why

A haul post is only honest if it includes the no’s:

The trendy barrel-leg everything. I love the shape and own several pairs of barrel jeans and pants. If you’re barrel-curious, the sale has good options. But I can only choose so many things to my cart…

A third pair of black boots. The sale is full of beautiful ones, and I was tempted. But two well-kept pairs are already waiting in my closet, and no discount makes a triplicate a good buy. The best NSale purchase is sometimes the one you don’t make.

Your Anniversary Sale Questions, Answered

When does the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2026 open to everyone?

Public Access opens Saturday, July 18, 2026 — no Nordstrom card needed. Early Access is running now for cardmembers, with shopping windows unlocking by tier. Sale prices end in early August, when everything returns to full price.

What are the best things to buy at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale?

Fall investment pieces offer the deepest value: coats, cashmere, leather, boots, and quality denim at 30–40% off before the season starts. Beauty exclusives and sets are also a smart buy since those brands rarely discount elsewhere.

Do Nordstrom Anniversary Sale items sell out?

Yes — popular sizes in hero items can sell out within days of each access tier opening. If something is calling your name and you have access, don’t wait. Restocks do happen throughout the sale, and I flag them as I see them.

Can I return Nordstrom Anniversary Sale purchases?

Yes. Nordstrom offers free returns, which makes “buy it, try it, decide at home” a legitimate strategy — and it’s the one I use myself. I’ll share exactly what worked and what went back once this haul arrives.

Is the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale worth it for women over 50?

In my opinion, it’s the single best sale of the year for building a classic wardrobe. New fall arrivals — not clearance leftovers — are discounted before the season begins, which means you’re investing in pieces you’ll wear for years at their lowest price of the year.

What’s Next

The boxes from this Nordstrom Anniversary Sale haul start arriving next week, which means the part I love most is coming: the real try-on, on a real body, with honest verdicts. That post — What Worked, What Went Back — lands the week of July 22, and my Grit & Glam Club members will get the deeper styling breakdowns that follow. And on Monday, the Anniversary Sale tradition gets a New York chapter for the very first time. I can’t wait to tell you about it.

  1. Mary

Dear Beth, I admire how you took this sale opportunity to buy high quality pieces that will be wonderful wardrobe additions for many years. I’m eyeing that Veronica Beard sweater for myself—-so versatile and cotton sweaters are perfect for Los Angeles weather. Best, Mary

    1. Beth Djalali

      Dear Mary,

Thank you for such a thoughtful note — you put your finger on exactly how I approach this sale. The discounts are lovely, but the real win is landing quality pieces that will still be earning their place in the closet years from now.

And you’re spot-on about the Veronica Beard sweater. Cotton is the unsung hero of knitwear — breathable enough for a Los Angeles afternoon, cozy enough for that marine-layer morning chill. It’s the kind of piece you’ll reach for ten months of the year out there. I say it’s meant to be.

Happy shopping, Mary — and remember, style has no expiration date, and neither do you.

  2. Carolina Girl

    Beth,
Just want to say I am NSale tempted by your brown suede suit (skirt and cropped jacket) and the Lauren Ralph Lauren lamb’s leather jacket (link went to color black, not tobacco). Everything you chose: No wonder you went to bed with a smile! 🙂

    1. Beth Djalali

You made my morning! I’ll confess — the brown suede suit was one of those pieces I circled back to three times before it went in the cart. The cropped jacket with the skirt feels polished together, but each piece will work overtime on its own all fall. Temptation is half the fun of the NSale, isn’t it?

Good news on the leather jacket: tobacco is on that same page! The link opens to black by default, but if you click through the color swatches you’ll find tobacco waiting for you — and it’s the shade that stole my heart.

And yes — I absolutely went to bed with a smile. Some sale nights are just like that.

  3. Dottie Willard

I always enjoy your posts. It was interesting to see what you purchased. Just have to ask why you would spend $100 on an ugly pair of grey sweat pants with no style? You can buy same style at many places for under $15.

    1. Beth Djalali

Ha — I hear you! Grey sweatpants are never going to win a beauty pageant, are they? But here’s my little secret: these are Ralph Lauren, and the quality is above and beyond — a heavyweight fleece that feels like a hug and holds its shape after a hundred washes. The older I get, the more I invest in the pieces nobody compliments, because they’re the ones I wear most — coffee in hand, granddaughters on my lap. You’re right that similar styles exist for less, and if those work for you, wonderful! For me, the cost-per-wear on these will end up being pennies. Thanks for reading and for keeping me on my toes — I always appreciate an honest question.

  4. Cindy Sullivan

None of your links go to the item. What am I doing wrong?

    1. Beth Djalali

      Hi Cindy,
I just checked all of the links and they worked. I’m not certain what’s going on on your end, but all you do is hover over the link then click.

  5. Cheryl Owens

I couldn’t believe how fast some items sold out! I got access at 12:01AM this morning, 7/16/26.
Placed my order for 3/4 of what was on my wish list..wanted to think about some of the others.
When I went back at 12:05 to order the brown suede skirt..it was already sold out! This morning, I’m finding some of the things I did order were already sold out.
Have to up my purchases at Nordstrom next year, so I can graduate from Influencer!!!

    1. Beth Djalali

If you love this sale (and I do) it pays to have the earliest access possible. Those Icons know how to shop!!!
